Dales Bus walk ideas and winter timetable

Just in from those nice people at Dales Bus:

"The clocks go back this Sunday (October 25th) and a record breaking summer season of DalesBus services to the Dales is now over, but the winter network gives lots of opportunities to get straight to the heart of the Yorkshire Dales every Sunday. Just hop on the 870 from Wakefield and Leeds via University Steps, Headingley and Otley to Ilkley where it connects into the 874 straight up Wharfedale to Buckden calling at Bolton Abbey, Burnsall, Grassington and Kettlewell. This bus is ideal for walks on the Dales Way which celebrated its 40th birthday this year. The creator of the Dales Way is the well known Dales author Colin Speakman who is also the Managing Director of the innovative Dales & Bowland Community Interest Company which has saved the DalesBus network from extinction and is now rebuilding it as the best way to reach the Dales from West Yorkshire.

This service is complemented by the Cravenlink service between Ilkley, Bolton Abbey and Skipton and the hourly 66A from Keighley to Grassington via Skipton and "Calendar Girls Country" which also run every Sunday throughout the winter.

Extra buses are provided on selected Sundays into Upper Nidderdale from Harrogate (connecting with the 36 from Leeds) and from Bradford, Ilkley and Skipton to Malham whilst service 650 provides a link every Sunday from Bradford and Shipley to Ilkley where you can change buses for the Dales.

To help you plan your day out, pick up a copy of the new DalesBus Dart along with the Metro Winter DalesBus Timetable Booklet from bus and rail stations, libraries and tourist information centres or log onto www.dalesbus.org If you prefer to let an expert guide you through the Dales, look out for the DalesBus Ramblers programme of guided walks off DalesBus services every Sunday."
