AGM news

Thanks to everyone who came to the AGM - as usual, there was much healthy debate and a few pints of quality ale were quaffed as well! The full minutes will be available on-line soon and the retiring committee members are in the process of handing over the reins to the new blood.

Graham Morris stood down as Social Secretary and Emma Ruane stood down as Membership Secretary, to be replaced by... Graham Morris! That boy just can't get enough.

Glenn Hinch is the new Social Secretary, and guarantees to be more fun than a sack full of ferrets up your trouser-leg. Ann Page, Neil Chester and Simon Bowen remain Secretary/Treasurer, Walks Secretary and Webmaster.

Thanks to all the walk leaders who got back to Emma with their turn-outs - so far in 2008 we've had a grand total of 2219 people on walks. Here's looking forward to 2009!

were you on any of these walks?

It's the last minute dash to get reports ready for the AGM on Saturday (3pm, Saturday 13th December in the Victoria - see below). Out of the 145 walks we ran in 2008 so far, we've got stats for 134 of them - only 11 missing!

If you were on any of these walks and can let me know how many people there were (or even your best guess!), please email membership@takeahike.org.uk right now.

9/2/08 Hope Valley
29/5/08 Evening walk - Airedale Valley woodland & water
19/7/08 Haworth Heathcliff ramble
6/9/08 Scafell Pike
7/9/08 Masham
13/9/08 Snowdon
14/9/08 North York Moors - Chop Gate circular
20/9/08 Ben Nevis
11/10/08 Pen y Ghent
12/10/08 Boulsworth Hill & Forest of Trawden
18/10/08 Ingleborough
25/10/08 Whernside

And for those of you that have requested it, yes, I will do my best to ensure that there is interpretive dance to illuminate the statistics. (you have to be there...)

membership secretary post vacant

After 3 years on the committee, I'm off to become a Scout leader! My long-suffering partner, Adrian, has expressed a desire for some of my evenings to be free from voluntary commitments, so I'm standing down as Membership Secretary at the AGM.

If you're interested in the post and want to find out what it involves, please drop me a line. It's ideal for someone who likes to help things run smoothly and has good people skills.

*and mine's still a pint of Landlord, thanks.
