AGM 3pm Saturday 13th December

Venue: the Victoria Hotel, Great George Street, Leeds

Now, if you've ever been to an AGM, you might think that they're a very dull affair. Not ours!

Don't think of it as an important constitutional event where you get to vote on a new committee, celebrate our successes over the last year or say thanks* for all the hard work people have put in.

No, think of it like a Thursday night at the Scarborough, but much more fun because we haven't all been at work all day! There's always a healthy debate and it's your chance to bring up the things that you'd like to see Take a Hike do over the next year, or get your questions answered.

All the present committee members will be standing down at AGM, but are more than happy to be re-elected. However, anyone's welcome to stand for a position. If you fancy getting involved in running the group, have a look at the 'committee' page and feel free to contact any committee member to ask more about the job. More details coming up on the message board.

Christmas bargains from the Ramblers

At this time of year, it's always good to save a bit of cash. You may not be aware of how many discounts you can get as a Ramblers member.

**Special offer until 31st December** Introduce a friend to the Ramblers and get a free £10 Rohan voucher (off purchases of £50 or above - they have some good trousers at this price). Just fill in the form at http://www.ramblers.org.uk/membership/gift.htm.

Ramblers also get a 10% discount at many stores, including Milletts, Blacks and Rohan. Local businesses offering a discount include Chevin Trek (Otley) and Fine Fettle Cycles (Barwick in Elmet), but try brandishing your card at others - they can only say no!

And don't forget, if you sign up for gift aid when you join, the Ramblers can claim an extra 28% back in tax. If you pay by direct debit, less of your membership fee goes on admin. More money = more campaigns = more of our countryside kept open.

Now, doesn't that give you a warm glow of seasonal goodwill?

Get Your Christmas Bash Tickets

There's still time to get tickets for the social event of the winter season - either catch Graham, Ann or Neil at a pub meet or send a cheque to Graham (details on social page) and your tickets will soon be winging their way to you!
