Otley walking festival
28th June - 6th July 2008
Ruth & Stuart from the Otley Walking Group would love TaH members to join in on their annual walking festival. Over the week, they're running an amazing 44 events, from walks to walking pole demonstrations, films to herb lore, plus conservation areas, nature walks and geologists.
Here's an example of what they've got to offer:
Saturday 28th June: BOOTS āNā BOOZE. Meet Andy FitzGerald at 10am at Otley Civic Centre, Cross Green, Otley. A lively walk up hills and down dales visiting some fine hostelries. 10 miles 7 hrs Mod/Hard Circular.
You can find the full programme at http://www.chevintrek.co.uk/index.asp?function=WEBPAGE&page=3 - tell them we sent you!
tah intellectual fighting force
Are you 'keen and informed' and do you 'take quizzes seriously'? The BBC have asked us if we want to field a team (minimum 7 members) for a new quiz series. They say:
"It's down to the skill and judgement of the captain to cleverly assemble an intellectual fighting force to win the game. Teams will be challenged in a range of subjects such as the Arts, Entertainment, History, Sport and Culture in a series of exciting one on one rounds."
We've already had Ramblers on Bargain Hunt, so how about Battle of the Brains? If you're interested in fielding a team, email the membership sec for further details.
One word of warning - Ramblers central have a strict policy that any mention of bobble hats, red socks pulled up to the knee, etc. is strictly verboten!
