Take a Hike Member is a Dogsbody (and proud of it)
You read right, but not as you might assume because "dogsbodies" help train the dogs used in mountain rescue, something we all appreciate but hope never to need. Long-time Take a Hike member Tamsin has written about her experiences as a dogsbody here.
You can ask Tam more at the December pub meet, or see her post on the message board.
Annual General Meeting
Take a Hike's AGM will be held on Sunday 2nd December at 2pm. The location will be Bridget's Bar at the Victoria Hotel, Great George Street, Leeds, LS1 3BB. (click here for map). Items for the agenda should be emailed to me (secretary@takeahike.org.uk) by 5pm on Friday 30th November.
As you are probably aware, the AGM is the occasion on which the committee is elected. While all the current committee members are standing for re-election any TaH member may stand for any post (for more details about the committee roles, see the committee page). If you cannot attend the AGM but wish to stand for committee, please contact me and I will arrange for this information to be presented to the meeting.
We will also be considering (and hopefully approving) a new constitution for the group, in line with the requirements of the Ramblers' Association. A copy of this is available for download here (108kB PDF file) for you to read prior to the meeting. If you cannot attend the meeting but still wish to comment, please email your comments to me (secretary@takeahike.org.uk) by 5pm on Friday 30th December.
Please try to come if you can: it's your group and this is our opportunity to raise issues, make suggestions and decide how you want the group run in the future.
I look forward to seeing you there!
Walk Leaders Training - update
Following on from the recent poll, it is now your chance to sign up for the following seminars that MAY be run by some existing Walk Leaders (who have volunteered their time):
A) Map reading skills and how to use a compass
B) Group Leadership skills
If you are interested in any or both of the above please email the Walks Secretary ASAP.
Please include your Ramblers Number as these seminars will only be available to Members.
Please also be aware that we run a "Buddy" scheme for any one requiring help with Recces and on the day of the walk, please enquire in the first instance to the Walks Secretary.
I look forward to hearing from you.
:-)
