Fame at last!

Our modest webmaster (to whom we pretty much owe the continuing existence of the group) has been profiled by the Ramblers on their main website. It's part of a series of articles designed to highlight the work done by volunteers in less traditional volunteering roles. We're one of the largest 20s and 30s groups and certainly the one that kills the fewest trees thanks to our web-based organisation, so well done Simon and thanks!

Keeping your Message Board SPAM-free

You may remember the bad old days when we had to be continually vigilant for bogus registrations and postings on the message board with links to a wide variety of unsavoury websites – the sort of dodgy financial scams, cheap prescription drugs and hardcore porn that give the web a bad name (SPAM). Myself, Grant and other members of the committee seemed to be forever deleting them. But no more! Thanks to a clever upgrade I’ve added to our message board the nefarious SPAMmers have been halted in their tracks. The gizmo even tells me how many we’ve foiled – over 220 since I installed it in early March. Not bad eh?

Volunteers Needed!!

Take a Hike needs You!

As the club grows we need more Leaders so if you fancy leading, let me know.

Warning: you may get hooked on it.

Day walks still needed for the rest of the summer.
Evening walks are needed for up until early September (any day of the Week, starting 7-7:30).

Any one interested in leading walks this summer please contact the Walks Secretary with your ideas!
