Calling All Inexperienced, New, or Aspiring walk leaders,…
…a Leadership Skills workshop is to take place at the Victoria Hotel (Bridget's Bar), Great George St, Leeds on Tuesday 13th June at 6.30pm.
This will be led by experienced, and friendly, group leader Richard Coverdale. He has worked up a draft agenda / content and is expecting the session to last around 3-4 hrs. This will incorporate walks leadership training and provide a forum for discussing and sharing party management skills.
All experienced leaders are also most welcome in order to contribute to this forum.
Anyone interested in attending should drop him a line to confirm attendance, so he has a rough idea of numbers. Email: richard@rcoverdale.freeserve.co.uk
10th June is England's first World Cup match!
Which is likely to bring on one of two responses in the average TaH member...
If you're thinking you might have to hide in your bedroom while all that football malarkey goes on, then why not consider an alternative activity for the 10th? Allan Elsworth has organised a trip to the Black Sheep Brewery in Masham - a coach there and back, a wander around the town and then a guided tour & supper at the Brewery. A few places are still available, so come along!
If on the other hand you're thinking that the only possible place to be at 2pm on the 10th is in front of a television watching England and Paraguay battle it out, then why not come anyway? The coach arrives in Masham about 1pm, the tour doesn't start until 5 and at least two pubs in Masham are showing the match. Whatever the outcome, you can then either celebrate/commiserate with nice folks, nice food and nice beer.
contact Allan to book your place: football fan or not, there's no need to spend the 10th June alone in a darkened room!
shock resignation from exec!
After giving the matter a fair bit of thought, Dan’s decided to resign as Campaigns Secretary for Take a Hike. The role needs someone who can raise the profile of Ramblers campaigns in the Group, and right now Dan feels he’s got too many other things going on to inject the vigour in to the position he feels is necessary to make it successful.
That’s Dan out the equation. So who wants the job? The role is all about getting more people from Take a Hike actively involved in countryside issues – making them aware of countryside campaigns, organising environmentally focussed activities and knocking out the odd article for the Ramblers. And of course attending the monthly exec meeting. Please contact Dan via the campaigns section of the web site if the position could interest you.
A date for your diaries...
This year's Summer Bash will take place on Saturday 12th of August. For those people new to the group, this is the social event of the summer when all Take-a-Hikers join together to eat, drink and generally be merry. Watch this space for venue/ticket information over the next few weeks.
If August seems like a long way away, check out the social diary for other stuff going on over the next month or two and if you really can't wait to eat, drink and generally be merry then why not come down to the pub meet on Thursday?
