Goodbye and Big Thanks Webmaster Dave, Hello Webmaster Simon!

After over 2 years Dave Pannell is stepping down as Webmaster to concentrate his energies on the role of Chairman, his work with Ramblers Yorkshire and (by no means least) fatherhood. So firstly, on behalf of everyone in the group, a huge thank you to Dave for all his hard work on the website. The site is most members' first introduction to the group, and it is thanks to such a vibrant, informative and friendly site the group is the healthy size it is today. Cheers Dave!
Taking over the mantle is Simon Bowen, and his first task is to trial a new, interactive gallery section where members will be able to upload their own photographs. To start the ball rolling there's a selection of the best of 2004 including Chris Longstaff's epic Welsh 3000s challenge, the Kildale weekend and more!
We Need More Socials!!!
Now that the Summer Bash is but a memory of barbies, boogying and helium sheep, it's time to look at what we're doing for the rest of the year. Emma's Hubberholme weekender is coming up shortly, Neil's putting on a sesh in Harrogate that'll be a good 'un, Charlotte's Lakes camping trip will be a chilled out affair and perfect for anyone who finds our other Lakeland adventures may be a little too hardcore. Clare and Diane's trip to the Dogs should be a blinder too. See the social diary for more info.
We're a convivial bunch and there have been some top-notch socials this year. Theatre trips, Lakes weekenders, barge trips, pub crawls, trips to Ireland, paintball... the list goes on. Looking forward, we need more things for the coming months. Anyone can organise events, and no matter how obscure you may think your idea is you can almost guarantee that there'll be other group members who will fancy it (interesting fact - there are over two hundred and twenty five people in Take a Hike now!). The important thing is to try and give plenty of notice. And then just do it! Really is that easy. Or just be like Dan and bombard the message board until everyone relents and shows up – a hundred folks at the Summer Bash can't be wrong!
We also need ideas for the Christmas bash. Getting venues in the right location for these sorts of things can be a pig of a job, so do please, please email Dan if you've got any ideas or suggestions on this one too.
If you can get involved please contact Social Secretary Dan Atkinson.
